Show your love for a greener DC:

Support our Green Jobs Fund!

Many of you have supported DC Greenworks’ programs and operations at one time or another in the past. Your donations and gifts have sustained us for many years, and we are most appreciative. We couldn’t have done it without you! And now, more than ever, we need your continued financial support to overcome a substantial challenge. When we built the first modern green roof in DC in 2000, few people knew what a green roof was. Now they cover 2.3 million square feet of rooftop in DC!

With your help we have educated 1000s of property owners on the benefits of green roofs and rainwater harvesting. We have done much to achieve this primary goal, including:

  • Built over 70 green roofs with more than 140,000 square feet of coverage
  • Installed over 3500 rain barrels at the homes of District residents
  • Installed rain gardens and native landscaping at dozens of schools and community centers
  • Built the first and only rooftop farm in DC

DC Greenworks has fulfilled the first goal of our Mission – promoting the development of a thriving commercial green infrastructure industry in the DC Metro Region.

Now it is time to move forward on completing our Mission – training a skilled workforce to build, maintain and monitor all of the green roofs and other green infrastructure installations that are here now and coming our way.
Last summer, we delivered the first-of-its-kind green roof maintenance training in DC. The first cohort of graduates of our Growing Futures Training Program were employed within 30 days of graduation.

We have just received grant funds to continue this training for more green jobs candidates in the District. However, this funding needs to be leveraged to ensure the success of the training. Help us reach the Green Jobs Fund goal of raising $50,000 to support this most worthwhile effort.

Please give a donation to support the Green Jobs Fund and the continuation of our mission.  Please consider a gift of $10, $50, $100, or more, if you can. The amount is less important than your participation.

As we begin our 16th year, DC Greenworks is a leader in ensuring that

  • Our waterways are cleaner, so we can fish and swim safely one day soon
  • Our air quality is improving, so our children can breathe easier
  • Our citizens have more well-paid employment opportunities

To show your love for DC Greenworks with a donation to our Green Jobs Fund, and to help us grow a healthier city and region where people prosper and communities are resilient, please donate here on our website.
