“Over the 5 or so years since the installation was completed, we have received additional support from dc greenworks, for recommendations on maintenance (which is minimal), and assistance with minor adjustments is the drainage system sand maintenance of the plants. We remain totally satisfied with this wonderful organization, which is doing so much environmental and community development work in the greater DC region. ”

“We are delighted with our greenroof, our first. We see it from our back windows, as do our neighbors, reminding us all of our beautiful earthly surroundings as we conserve a precious community resource, the city’s ground water. . Now we have birds and visually-pleasing succulents that not only give us pleasure but add to the apparent size of our backyard in a city setting. So it is a win-win situation and dc greenworks made it an educational and enjoyable experience.”
-DC Green Roof Client
“Our architects recommended dc greenworks to design and install the living roof. We are very pleased with the support we received from dc greenworks as we constructed the roof in preparation for the installation of the living component. The crew that did the actual installation were skilled, friendly, and professional, and we were totally satisfied with the final product. ”

“At Bread for the City, we had a dream of a project that would open an entirely new dimension within our community: a rooftop garden suited for growing food, gathering together, and developing a vision of a sustainable, supportive community. With dc greenworks’ technical expertise, muscle, and gentle guidance, we were able to make this dream a reality. We encourage everyone to explore the possibilities up above us, with dc greenworks as their guide.”

green roofs
Green roofing offers a proven, cost-effective and attractive method to reduce storm-water runoff that can be applied from row-house to warehouse. There is no job too big or too small for dc greenworks! In this section is just a sampling of successful projects we have built.
rain gardens
Rain gardens reduces rain runoff by allowing stormwater to soak into the ground (as opposed to flowing into storm drains and surface waters which causes erosion, water pollution, flooding, and diminished groundwater). Rain gardens can cut down on the amount of pollution reaching creeks and streams by up to 30%.
school projects
dc greenworks is partnering with schools throughout the DC metro area in an effort to build upon the many greening projects that are being implemented throughout the region. In this section you can view the wonderful projects that we are working on in collaboration with these fine schools.
urban agriculture
Around 15 percent of the world's food is now grown in urban areas. City and suburban agriculture takes the form of backyard, roof-top and balcony gardening, community gardening in vacant lots and parks, roadside urban fringe agriculture and livestock grazing in open space. In this section you will see how dc greenworks works with the community to build successful urban gardens.
